Through direct grants, Corning Incorporated Foundation proactively and thoughtfully
acts as a champion for communities where the company has a business presence. In
recent years, Corning Incorporated Foundation has made 150 grants annually, exclusive
of the Employee Matching Gifts Program, which represents approximately $4.8 million
awarded each year.
While the amount of support awarded is significant, competition for funding is
great, and the amount of support requested each year by grantseekers far exceeds
the Foundation's resources.
Before submitting a written request, grantseekers are advised to review the Foundation's
areas of giving carefully to determine how a program or project fits into the Foundation's
geographic and programmatic areas of involvement. The Foundation's inability to
support an activity in no way reflects upon the merit of the project.
Only organizations tax-exempt under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue
Code and classified as a public charity as defined in Section 509(a) of the Code
(unless a public school or library) are eligible.
A Matching Gifts Program also exists to support the philanthropic efforts of
Corning Incorporated employees.
